I’m Carlee and I am currently a stay-at-home mother to 3 sometimes beautiful children (I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid). When they aren’t making me run around the house like a mad woman, I love to read and write. Reading has always been more than a hobby, more than something to keep me occupied. It’s been a way for me to tackle the world without fear.
I have a sweet spot for murder mystery and detective thrillers. I lovingly blame Sue Grafton for that ever since I found one of her books digging through a stack at Goodwill and haven’t turned back since. I’ve yet to finish all of her wonderful collection, but I will one day. It was her wonderful style of writing that made me love the chase.
I love those tidbits of “useless knowledge.” You know, the ones that they put in those little bathroom reading books, love them. Honestly, you never know when you can pull those little fun facts out of your pocket in a conversation!
I’m a HUGE fan of a great cup of coffee. I’m no connoisseur, but a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the morning makes the world go round.
This one is always a little hard for me to list, but here’s some the authors I love to read
- Sue Grafton (duh)
- Kathy Reichs
- Stephen King (also duh)
- Laurie King
- Alice Hoffman
- Amy Tan
- Ruth Ware
- Dean Koontz
- Diana Gabaldon
- Fredrik Backman
TO READ AGAIN & AGAIN:
I have a handful of books that I have read several times and revisit often, especially as I get older. I find it fascinating how changes in our lives influence how we read and some of these my love for has only grown over the years.
- Fahrenheit 451
- The Neverending Story
- Lisey’s Story
- Animal Farm
- To Kill a Mockingbird
- Jane Eyre
- Interview with a Vampire
FAVORITE TV SHOWS:
I love to watch TV when the kids don’t have control of the remote and I’m a sucker for something that I can watch without having to use too many brain cells, if you know what I mean. I love movies/shows that have me angry that I have to wait for the next episode! I also love a good laugh and here’s what I’ve been watching lately:
- Castle Rock (love it love it love it!)
- Scream Queens (Jamie Lee Curtis is amazing)
- American Horror Story (for when the kids are asleep only!)
- Bones (I’ve seen every episode at least twice)
I’m a sucker for the crime solving shows too like Forensic Files, and Cold Case.
I have a couple of writing works in progress that hopefully will make their way to the bookstores one of these lovely days soon!
